Fast
Lach was playing with his slot cars, so it was time to get some fast shots. Very difficult in the dim lighting of his bedroom. Yes, this car was moving. Fast.

Where am I?
Multiple choice question. Where am I?
A. A 19th century prison.
B. A modern correctional centre.
C. A modern school.
A prize of 100 lashes (do we still do that?) to the neatest correct entry.

Enchanted Pathway
After taking the direct but difficult route to find a geocache on Mt Ettalong, this was the enchanted path back to the road. Much easier than the route in.

Paddle power
Up early for a paddle from Umina to Patonga with dad, a distance of about 6km. Just beautiful. The girls picked us up at Patonga, where we had a coffee, loaded up the kayaks headed off. What a great way to start the day.

Aussie Summer
A wander along Umina Beach. Pity I couldn't see the viewfinder due to the sun. I hate crooked horizons, but cant staighten it in-phone. Damn.

Not so shiny
Not so shiny
Two reasons for this photo post.
1. Last week I received the cheapo ebay extension tubes for my camera that I had ordered a while ago. For the uninitiated, they allow you to take macro or super-close-up photos. I haven't had much time to play with them yet, but I have found that they are very difficult to use. Being the cheap and nasty version, they have no exposure control, so all exposure must be done manually and they have no aperture control, so all photos are taken on maximum aperture, which means minimum depth of field. Consequently, the depth of field is less than 1mm in most situations.
2. This photo is my response to Betchaboys 'Shiny Object' post on his 365daysoflight project. Even after all these years I'm still impressed with my Suzuki. Not the most luxurious car around [understatement] but it continues to do the job.

Sail
Sail
OK, so I think I'm breaking the rules here - or at least the spirit of a photo a day project - because I didn't actually take the photo myself, but it was taken on my camera.
Today we went sailing on Swan Lake on Katrina's Maricat. This was the first time I'd sailed a cat since 1981, when I wrote off my dad's pride and joy. In the morning we took the kids out (Lauren with me on Katrina's boat and Katrina and Lach on a borrowed boat.) Everyone had a great time. It was the kid's first sailing experience.
In the afternoon it was race time. The local 'club' had 4 starters. I managed a second place after leading for most of the race. Not bad after all this time. Did I mention I had a great time?

More Mice
More Mice
A few days ago the daily photo was of one of the mice that Lachlan was minding over the holidays. Yesterday his baby-sitting responsibilities went from minding 4 mice to 13.
Between when we left to go to the county music and when we got home, Ginger had 9 pups. Great learning experience for the kids.

Hot Country
Felicity Urquhart was the stand out performer at "Hot Country", an attempt at a country music festival, held at Riversdale on the banks of the Shoalhaven River.
Other photos from the day are here.

Almost Harvest
Almost Harvest
Every day this week I have passed by Cambewarra Winery and been amazed by the netting. If I had to guess, I'd say the netting was covering 20 acres of vines. The nets have stopped the birds, now hopefully the crazy weather we've been having wont destroy the crop before they can get it in.

Mouse
Mouse
Our turn to mind the class mice from the kid's school. They certainly know how to make the place smell.
This is Pipsqueak, a relatively well behaved mouse - unlike Steve (no, I'm not joking) who escaped into a bedroom and kept us 'entertained' through the wee small hours of the night while we (I) tried to catch him.

Shoalhaven Food & Wine Festival
A bit damp at the annual Shoalhaven Food & Wine Festival. Notice the duo at the back - playing to big audience.
This is my first photo taken, edited and posted straight from the phone.
Inside, it was all action.

Actually, the Festival was great. Lots of local producers with great food and wine to sample.

Lollies
Lollies
I've just been looking at Betchaboy's photo a day, 365daysoflight. All his food shots made me hungry. So I had a lolly and photographed the rest.
