When does the son become better than the dad at many things? The student become the teacher? The follower become the leader?I think that day is fast approaching. I better go and practice.
J.B: Is that Jervis Bay or Just Beautiful?
I wanted to try HDR on a close-up, so Buddha offered her services as a subject. Harsh midday sun didn't help, and even 4 stops overexposed didn't get the detail I wanted. But I guess that is what this project is all about - improving my photography by learning what is possible and what is not. I might reshoot this one with low sunset light.
Off for a geocache after work today, without the GPS. The trusty phone had to be internet, GPSr and camera.
Another wet, grey day. Kayaking. No. Geocaching. No. Beach. Definitely no. Time for some gingerbread cooking using the 101 cutters Lauren recieved for Christmas. Turns out heads and long legs fall off too easily, so the more solid shapes worked best. So we did a batch of hearts. Just in time for Valentines Day tomorrow.
I'd tried High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography before, but only using Photoshop. Not good. Today I downloaded a trial version of Photomatix Light and took some photos overlooking the Shoalhaven River near Ben's Walk on the way home from work. This shot was my first attempt at HDR. I didn't have a tripod with me, so was amazed at the results.
It may seem that I've become obsessed with the weather, but after a week of too hot and too humid - interupted with the odd storm that serves no purpose except to make it even more humid - I was very happy to see the temperature plummet as we headed home from the central coast. Not a great photo, but exciting in its own way.
