The Travel Bug

I spent some time today organising Travel Bugs with the kids for the upcoming big-trip. We'll be visiting 9 countries, so we've got 9 TBs ready to drop off along the way.

What's that - you don't know what a Travel Bug is? Shame on you.

Fence Post

A bit of geocaching today in the wild wind. This fence post in Kangaroo Valley just survived a rather large tree falling nearby. The contrasts struck me as I walked past. The old wire, the old lichen covered post, but one side of the post looked freshly split.

Blackout Challenge

Huge winds have taken out the power here in Cambe (and who know where else), so tonight's challenge is to still post a photo without 240V power.

1. Take the photo. Easy - Nothing changes here.
2. Upload to computer. OK. Luckily the laptop was charged.
3. Upload to Picasaweb and post to blog. Via bluetooth to phone and 3G to the net. Done.

BTW: This was our candle lit dinner scene. Nice.

Puttanesca

Not many food photos recently. Tonight's Puttanesca spaghetti looked good enough to eat. So I did.

Compass

Went for a paddle on Currembine Creek, near Huskisson today. Such a wonderful winters day. This Compass 29 was for sale. Not luxury, but the price is right. Almost. Maybe one day.

Capsicum by Night!

Did I mention that I recently discovered that my 20+ year old Vivitar flash actually works with my 400D? Sort of. I can't believe I had never tried it before now. Actually, I had forgotten I owned it.

It only works in fully manual mode, and by modern standards it's a primative flash - but better than the on-camera flash on the Canon.

I decided to play with it tonight - seeing if it was worth further experimentation. Based on the results I fugure it's worth trying in other situations.
